'Computer generated imagery' is the application of the field of computer graphics to special effects
CGI is used more and more in modern day production as it's a high developing technology which is continually improving; usually used in films, TV programs and advertisements. CGI is used essentially for visual effects, creating high quality realistic special effects with an aim to create a misconception of reality to the naked human eye.Within a Thriller genre, CGI is a very useful tool as it helps expand the possibilities that a director can explore with their film.
Many films contain such things as:
- Explosions
- Futuristic technology
- Demonstrate mechanical processes
- Creating static images and landscapes
- Visualise a wide variety of complex graphic context
- Computer animation
- Virtual worlds
- Alien life form
Me and my group will not have the funding and technology to be able to create CGI effects as shown above. However there are some small features in which we can incorporate into our opening sequence.
